Annual report explanation

What is the annual report?

The central government annual report consists of all the ministries’ annual reports. In these reports, the ministries account for their spending over the past year.

Annual reports of all ministries

At the end of a budget period, all ministries draw up an annual report. The annual report indicates whether the ministry has spent more or less than was budgeted. The ministries send their reports to the Ministry of Finance. All the reports together comprise the central government annual report.

Approval by the Court of Audit

The Ministry of Finance sends the central government annual report to the Court of Audit. The Court of Audit has to approve the ministries’ reports.

Presentation of the central government annual report

The Minister of Finance presents the central government annual report to the House of Representatives on Accountability Day. The House also receives an explanation from the Ministry of Finance (national financial annual report) and an explanation from the government (accountability letter).

The Minister of Finance presents the central government annual report to the House of Representatives on the third Wednesday in May.
